Itinerary

4 Nights – Cape Town
2 Nights – Blue Train
3 Nights – Kruger
3 Nights – Victoria Falls

✈  UK – Cape Town (4 Nights): You’ll first fly from the UK to Cape Town, where you’ll have 4 nights to explore this vibrant, artsy and beachfront South African city. Overlooked by the humbling Table Mountain (where the sunrises are unmissable), Cape Town is the up-and-coming coastal destination that’s got it all.

While Lion’s Head is more craggy rocks, hikes and zebra-spotting, downtown districts have all the oceanfront charm of artisan coffee spots, craft beer breweries and the twinkling V&A waterfront. It’s here and in the City Bowl that you’ll find designer or offbeat boutiques, restaurants, the Museum of Contemporary Art Africa and departure points for ferries to Robben Island. Drop by Neighbourgoods Market in the Old Biscuit Mill for fantastic olives and cheeses. Or try street eats at Oranjezicht City Farm Market. With Camps Bay beach’s palms, bars and white sands (or more-deserted stretches at Cape Point), you’re also in for a great shorefront stay. For greenery, check out Kirstenbosch Garden. For adorable penguin colonies, stop by Cape Peninsula. As to sampling local wines and open fire “braii” grills- well, you’re spoiled for choice.

🚂Cape Town – Johannesburg by Blue Train or Upgrade to Rovos Rail (2 Nights): The iconic Blue Train covers 994 miles of land between Cape Town and Pretoria. It takes in mesmerising landscapes and stunning horizons, but you stay cosy in the luxury of wood-panelled interiors and comfortable, air-conditioned rooms. This is your chance to experience it for 2 nights as you head from Cape Town to Johannesburg. The train’s cabins definitely have an Old World feel- think plush upholstery, marbled bathrooms and even the chance to have your own butler! The food is out of this world, a glass of bubbly is well worth it and there’s even a jewellery store on-board.

✈Johannesburg – Kruger (3 Nights): Depending on which lodge you choose, you’ll reach Kruger either by plane or road transfer. With the Big Five (elephants, black and white rhinoceros, leopards and lions), plus 519 bird species, this vast expanse of game reserve is one of the oldest and largest in the world. The setting is simply gorgeous. Lodges are dotted across Kruger, where there’s everything from luxury to budget-friendly options. Speak to us about what your style is, and we’ll find the right one for you.

✈ Kruger – Victoria Falls (3 Nights): You’ll reach the mighty Victoria Falls via return to Johannesburg and a flight to Livingstone. Depending on your lodge, you might need a night’s stopover. Staggering Zimbabwe and Zambia with towering sheer cliff-faces and fresh spray, this breath-taking natural setting is twice as tall as Niagara (and quite a bit longer).

Over two-thirds of the falls sit on the Zambian side of the border. Meanwhile, the Zimbabwean side offers 15 viewpoints including Victoria Falls Bridge and an easy 10-minute distance from Victoria Falls Town. The Zambian side offers The Livingstone Museum, Livingstone Island and just as much white water rafting, bungee jumping and splendid hikes as across the border. Whichever you choose, you’ll be in for green-fronted gorges, jaw-dropping falls, wildlife-spotting and plenty of great food and drink- definitely try the local game meats.

✈ Victoria Falls – UK: You’ll return by flight to the UK following a transfer from the falls to Livingstone.
