Only a 40-minute drive from Nelson, buzzing with its creative arts scene, is the beautiful Abel Tasman National Park. At the very top of the South Island, the park has endless golden sandy coves, impressive rock formations and incredible sea-life.

Description

The 51km Coastal Track is what most people come here for, and usually takes between 3 -5 days to walk from one end to the other. Or, as the park is so accessible by boat, you can walk a portion of the trail and cruise along the remainder – or cruise all the way relaxing and admiring the magnificent scenery from the deck. If you are keen to put more effort in though, why not explore the coves in a kayak for a day?

Whichever way you choose; the crystal clear waters will be a constant temptation beckoning you in. Take time to enjoy swimming, spotting the sea life and soaking up the sunshine – the dolphins, penguins and fur seals can be your entertainment as you sunbathe!

Accommodation en route can be arranged in lodges or campsites and water taxis and shuttles are also available along the way.
