Montreal is a creative city that buzzes with life. From its amazing architecture and its great blend of French, English and North American culture, to its exciting arts, food and music scenes – this is a city where you will never be bored.

Description

Step back in time and take a trip to Old Montreal, the site of the original city. This is a real look back at how times used to be, with horse and carriages running through the streets and during summertime you’ll find street performers by the river. It’s popular with shoppers, offering enticing boutiques and quaint little cafes that overlook the river. For the thrill seekers, this area is also home to La Ronde amusement park.

For a day of culture a visit to the Notre Dame Basilica should be top of your list, a stunning example of Gothic architecture, and wandering around it is a truly spiritual experience. Also head up to St. Joseph’s Oratory, another fascinating basilica which also boasts fabulous views of the city due to it being situated at the city’s highest point. There are also some excellent museums to visit, the two most popular being the Museum of fine arts and the Museum of Archaeology and History.

For some ‘you time’, visit the Botanical Gardens where you can be one with nature whilst appreciating the themed greenery. Also visit the Parc du Mont-Royal, this is the largest of the city’s parks and from which the city was named, you can also trek up the mountain and gaze at the breath-taking views of Montreal.

The best thing about Montreal though, is wandering its streets and taking in the unexpected pieces of urban art, stumbling past a quirky jazz club where you can while away the hours and enjoying some of North America’s best cuisine.
